Pets, food spills, and daily skin contact can mean more frequent cleaning. Follow the label for detergent, cycle, and drying, and refit only when completely dry.

What If the Label Does Not Allow Hot Washing?

Do not damage a cover to meet a temperature target. Regular washing helps remove accumulated dirt and allergens, but a routine wash is not a guarantee of eliminating dust mites. Use the fabric-safe method and ask your clinician about persistent allergy symptoms.

Protection Claims Need Checking

A waterproof mattress protector is not automatically a dust-mite-proof encasement. If allergy protection is your aim, ask about a product’s specific barrier construction and enclosure rather than relying on the word “waterproof”. Fragrance or fabric refresher does not substitute for washing.
