How to Clean a Waterproof Mattress Protector (Without Ruining the Waterproofing)

Al Falah Collection

The most important part of a waterproof mattress protector is the invisible polyurethane membrane on the back. If washed incorrectly, this membrane can blister, melt, or peel, destroying its waterproofing capabilities.

Washing Instructions

  • Wash separately or with soft items (like bedsheets). Do not wash with jeans, towels, or items with zippers that could scratch the waterproof backing.
  • Use cold or lukewarm water. Never hot!
  • Use a small amount of mild detergent.

Drying Instructions (CRITICAL)

Never tumble dry on high heat!

High heat will literally melt the waterproof layer in your dryer. You must tumble dry on NO HEAT / AIR FLUFF or low heat if absolutely necessary. The absolute safest method is to line dry it indoors or in the shade.

When to Replace

While our protectors come with a 7-year warranty against manufacturing defects, hygiene experts strongly recommend replacing your mattress protector every 3 to 5 years depending on usage and wash frequency, to maintain maximum hygiene and protection.
